I/Orgel is an I/O project that was developed in the Orgelpark throughout the season 2015/16. Kaja Draksler, George Dumitriu, Roelof Pothuis and I were researching and exploring everything around the organ, together with experts in that instrument and the audience. I/O designed a series of public workshops during which the audience could learn more about the organ, but also take part in creative games. These workshops also offered opportunities to test interactive and staging ideas. The experience we gained was used to create a performance of new organ music that involved improvisation. A double performance took place on April 16, 2016 with Elina Silova as the guest singer.
This is a tryout with The Busy Drone, Orgelpark’s barrel organ, during our 2nd workshop. I was (and still am) interested in exploring the instrument’s MIDI interface possibilities.
