Professional Practice

Beyond the individual works presented on this website, this page offers a broader portrait of Thanasis Deligiannis’ artistic practice, bringing together the collaborations, institutions, educational activities and long- term artistic research that shape it. Working across concert music, hybrid performative works and immersive installations, he develops projects in close dialogue with musicians, performers, researchers, programmers and cultural institutions internationally. Alongside his practice, he teaches, leads workshops and directs interdisciplinary projects.

Artistic Approach

Composition remains at the core of Deligiannis’ artistic practice, while each project develops its own relationship between sound, bodies, moving image, space and technology. His work ranges from commissioned music for ensembles and soloists to site-responsive installations and large-scale performative environments.

Research often forms the starting point of Deligiannis’ projects, not as material to be documented or represented, but as a process that informs the compositional decisions shaping each work. Observations, conversations, spatial situations and technologies gradually become part of the artistic language. Through workshops, rehearsals and sustained dialogue with musicians, performers and collaborators, ideas are continuously tested, challenged and transformed, allowing composition to expand beyond sound into the conditions through which the work itself is created.
